Early in 2020 a group of seven Seattle writers began to reflect on our experiences of living through the pandemic and constant stream of unsettling news. Lest we forget the little moments of our upended lives, we wrote…and wrote…and wrote. Across the months we expressed our thoughts, outrage, and grief in poems, essays and blogs.
Writing While Masked remembers this kaleidoscope of a year. May it help us learn what to keep from 2020, and what to keep from happening again.

My writing group was so fortunate: we had good reviews, and good local sales of our book, but we were having trouble keeping up with reprinting and restocking stores. Washington State University Press agreed to republish our book, with additions as Writing While Masked, Reflections on 2020 and Beyond.
