Happy Clams at High Tide

First Appeared in Synkronicitiy

I often wonder–
do clams enjoy the swish
in their embrace of flux and flow,
salt and clear,
reach and spit
and peristaltic pleasure?

Do they happily share
their ribbed shells
with scuttling crabs,
and slimey worms
while they spew their gametes
into the froth and stir
of sea broth?

Mollusk happiness,
is there such a thing?
